Luggage matters as much as seats. A full 17 seater Urbania carries about 17 bags in its rear storage. If your group is 15 or 16 people with heavy luggage, it is still the right size, and it is better than splitting into two cars. There is no 21 seater Urbania, because the Force Urbania seats 17 at most. See the full Force Urbania rental guide for the 12 seater Maharaja option.

The Complete Guide to Renting a 17 Seater Urbania in Bangalore

This guide is written for anyone planning a trip for 13 to 17 people from Bangalore: a wedding party, a pilgrimage group, a company offsite, a family reunion or a friends' holiday. It explains what the 17 seater Urbania is, how to seat and pack a full group, what each type of trip needs, how the pricing works with real worked examples, and how to avoid the mistakes that cost large groups money and time. Every rate quoted here is the live Yogi Tours & Travels tariff: ₹38 per km, a 300 km daily minimum and ₹700 per day driver Bata, with tolls, parking, permits and state taxes billed at actuals. If you only want the price, jump to the fare table. If you want to plan the whole trip, read on.

Part 1. Understanding the 17 Seater Urbania

What the Force Urbania actually is

The Force Urbania is a large passenger van built by Force Motors. Most travellers know Force vehicles through the older Traveller, the long-running van that has carried groups across India for decades. The Urbania is a different design. It is built on a monocoque body, which means the body and frame are one structure instead of a body bolted onto a separate ladder frame. For a passenger, the practical result is a ride that feels closer to a large car than to a commercial van: less body roll, less vibration through the floor and a noticeably quieter cabin. The roof is higher, so most adults can stand and walk down the aisle without stooping.

That matters most on long days. A group travelling from Bangalore to Ooty or Wayanad spends six to seven hours on the road. In a vehicle that shakes and drones, those hours are tiring, and elderly relatives and children feel it first. In an Urbania the cabin stays calmer, which is why this vehicle has become the first choice for families that have the budget for comfort and for companies that want to arrive looking fresh.

The 17 seater layout

The 17 seater Urbania carries up to 17 passengers plus the driver. Our vehicle uses Maharaja recliner captain seats with motorized calf and leg rests, so the seats are individual rather than a shared bench. Each passenger has their own recline, their own leg support, an individual USB fast charger and an individual AC louver above. The cabin also has a mounted Sony Bravia Smart TV, an on-board refrigerator that works as a chiller for cold drinks, ambient blue neon mood lighting, panoramic tinted windows and retractable sunblinds. Luggage goes in a dedicated rear storage area, sized for about 17 bags.

A 17 seater is the largest the Urbania comes in. This is worth stating plainly because people search for a "21 seater Urbania" and are surprised to find none. The platform seats 17 at most. If your group is 18 to 21 people, the right vehicle is the 21 seater mini bus at ₹34 per km, and for 22 to 25 people the 25 seater mini bus at ₹38 per km.

Cabin zones and who should sit where

A full 17 seater has natural zones, and a little planning makes the journey far better for everyone. Think of the cabin in three parts.

  • The front zone (nearest the driver). These seats have the best forward view and the least body movement. Give them to anyone who suffers from motion sickness, to pregnant travellers and to the elderly. Fresh air and a view of the horizon are the best remedies for car sickness, and the front seats offer both.
  • The middle zone. The most comfortable ride on the vehicle. Families with small children usually settle here, because the seats are close enough to the aisle for quick access and far enough from the rear wheels to avoid the bumpiest movement.
  • The rear zone. The rear seats feel road bumps more, especially on broken ghat sections and speed breakers. They are fine for able-bodied teenagers and adults, and they are where the group usually forms its social centre because of the proximity to the luggage area and to each other.

Rotate seats at lunch stops on a long trip. A group that swaps front and rear seats halfway shares the best and worst seats fairly, and avoids the quiet resentment that builds when the same people always sit at the back.

Luggage planning for a full group

The rear storage is sized for about 17 bags. That works when the group follows a simple rule: one medium bag per person plus a few soft bags. It stops working when the group arrives with large hard-shell suitcases, wedding trunks, musical instruments or boxes of gifts. Before the day of the trip, count bags, not just people. If you will exceed about 17 bags, tell us in the enquiry so we can confirm what fits or suggest a second vehicle for luggage. A wedding party carrying garments for a ceremony is the classic case: 12 people may have 20 bags, and it is far cheaper to know that on the booking call than at the pickup.

Some practical packing habits make a difference. Pack one small day bag per person that stays inside the cabin with medicines, a water bottle, a phone charger and a light layer, and put the main bag in the rear storage. Elderly travellers should always keep medicines in the day bag, never in the luggage compartment. Fragile items, such as a framed gift or a ceremonial lamp, should travel on a seat, not in the boot.

How the 17 seater compares with other vehicles

A group of 13 to 17 people has several sensible options, and the right answer depends on what you value.

OptionSeatsRate per kmDaily BataCharacter
17 seater Force Urbania17₹38₹700Luxury, quiet, recliner seats, Smart TV
17 seater Tempo Traveller17₹30 AC / ₹28 non-AC₹700Value, push-back seats, luggage boot and roof carrier
21 seater mini bus21₹34On quotationSpare seats, PA system, overhead racks
Two Innova Crystas14 (7 each)₹19 each₹400 eachTwo drivers, group split across cars

The Tempo Traveller is the lowest-cost way to move 17 people and is a very reasonable choice for short trips and budget pilgrimages. The Urbania costs ₹8 more per km. On a 600 km two-day trip that is a difference of ₹4,800 for the whole vehicle, or about ₹280 per person for a group of 17. Whether that is worth it depends on how long you will sit in the vehicle and who is travelling. For a one-hour airport run, probably not. For a six-hour hill drive with grandparents, most groups say yes.

Two Innova Crystas look cheaper per km, but they are not like for like. Two cars carry 14 people, not 17, so a full group of 17 needs three. Two drivers also means two driver Batas and two sets of tolls, and the group splits in half for the whole journey. On a family trip, that split is the real cost.

Part 2. Planning Any Large-Group Trip

Start with the headcount and the bag count

Every quotation starts from two numbers: how many people and how many bags. Confirm them with the group before you call. People often say "about 15" and arrive as 18. Ask the group organiser to collect a final list by name, because a name list stops last-minute additions and makes the pickup plan easier. If the number could realistically be 18 or more, plan for the 21 seater mini bus now, rather than discovering the problem at the pickup point.

Appoint one coordinator

Large groups run well when one person talks to the driver and to us. That person confirms pickup times, holds the final passenger list, handles toll receipts and decides on stops. Without a coordinator, a vehicle of 17 receives 17 different instructions, and the driver ends up mediating arguments about where to eat. Choose someone organised and a little firm. Share their number with us and with the group.

Plan the pickups before the day

A group of 17 rarely lives at one address. Decide whether everyone gathers at a single point or whether the Urbania makes several pickups. Multiple pickups across Bangalore can add an hour or more because of traffic, and every stop adds distance. We pick up from any locality, for example Whitefield, Koramangala, Electronic City, Indiranagar, Hebbal and Yelahanka. For early starts, a single central meeting point is usually faster than a chain of doorstep pickups. For late-evening returns, doorstep drops are easy and worth the extra stops.

Give the driver the exact address, a landmark and a phone number for each pickup. Bangalore addresses can be confusing, and the driver loses far more time looking for a building than driving between areas.

Choose the departure time with traffic in mind

Bangalore's traffic changes the length of the first hour of any outstation trip. A departure from Whitefield or Electronic City at 8:30 AM on a weekday means slow movement through IT corridors, while the same trip at 5:00 AM clears the city in half the time. For hill destinations like Ooty, Coorg and Wayanad, an early start also protects daylight for the ghat sections. Duty runs from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and extra driver Bata applies after 10:00 PM, so plan your return so that the vehicle is back before the night duty cut-off whenever possible.

Build realistic stops into the schedule

A group of 17 does not stop in five minutes. Figure on 30 to 45 minutes for a breakfast stop and about an hour for lunch, with a short rest stop every two hours. A six-hour drive becomes an eight-hour day once you add this, and that is normal. Tell the group the true arrival time. Groups that promise an arrival by 1:00 PM and arrive at 3:30 PM start the holiday in a bad mood.

Agree the plan for tolls, parking and permits

Tolls, parking, interstate permits and state taxes are billed at actuals, and for a long trip they add up. Ask the coordinator to keep the toll receipts and to settle them at the end of the trip. We itemise expected extras in the written quotation so you are not surprised, and any state border permit for trips to Tamil Nadu, Kerala or Goa is listed in advance.

Part 3. Wedding Transportation with a 17 Seater Urbania

Weddings are one of the busiest uses of the 17 seater, because a wedding is a logistics problem disguised as a celebration. Guests arrive from different cities, stay at different hotels and need to be at the venue at fixed moments. A single 17 seater Urbania can anchor the transport plan for the immediate family, while other vehicles cover the wider guest list.

Who to put in the Urbania

Use the Urbania for the people whose comfort matters most and whose timing is least flexible: grandparents, the bride's or groom's immediate family, elderly relatives and young children. The recliner seats and the quiet cabin make a real difference for older guests during the long ceremony days, and the individual AC louvers let everyone set their own comfort. Use 17 seater Tempo Travellers or a 25 seater mini bus for the wider guest list.

Build a wedding transport timetable

Write the timetable down. A typical wedding weekend has five or six movement blocks: arrival at the airport or station, transfer to hotels, hotel to the mehendi or sangeet venue, hotel to the muhurtham, venue to the reception, and departures. For each block write the time, the pickup point, the drop point and the number of people. A one-page table shared with the group coordinator and with us removes most of the stress.

Leave buffers. Wedding timings slip, and nobody enjoys a driver watching the clock. Tell us the actual muhurtham time, not just the start time of the event, so we schedule the vehicle early enough for guests to arrive before the key moment.

Dress, luggage and decoration

Wedding groups carry silk sarees, jewellery boxes, garlands and gifts. Keep jewellery with the owner in the cabin, not in the luggage storage. Garments should travel in garment bags laid flat or hung where the vehicle allows, and fresh flower garlands should travel in the cabin with the AC on. If you plan to decorate the vehicle with flowers or ribbons for a baraat or bridal entry, tell us beforehand so the decoration is agreed and does not block the driver's view or damage the vehicle.

Airport arrivals for wedding guests

Guests who fly into Kempegowda International Airport are best met by a driver who knows the flight timing. A 17 seater Urbania can collect a whole family at once, which is far easier on a bride's parents than coordinating five separate cabs. See our airport transfer service and the wedding transportation service for how we schedule multiple vehicles across one event.

Part 4. Pilgrimage Trips by 17 Seater Urbania

Pilgrimages are among the most common long trips for large groups from Bangalore. They combine early starts, long drives, temple queues and late returns, and they often include elderly travellers. A comfortable vehicle changes the experience of the whole journey.

Tirupati and Tirumala

Tirupati is about 255 km from Bangalore, a drive of around five and a half to six hours. Groups usually start before dawn so they reach the foothills in time for darshan. Book darshan tickets through the official Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams channels well before travel, as slots and special entry tickets fill early, and carry the original ID that matches the booking for every pilgrim. Follow the temple's dress code, which asks for traditional attire. Because Tirupati is in Andhra Pradesh, interstate permits and state taxes apply to the vehicle and are itemised in your quotation. Decide beforehand whether the group will walk up the hill or take the road, and plan the vehicle's waiting time accordingly. A 17 seater Urbania suits a full family group, and the recliners help elderly pilgrims recover during the long wait and return drive. See the Force Urbania fare guide for Tirupati.

Mantralaya

Mantralaya, the town of the Raghavendra Swamy Brindavana on the banks of the Tungabhadra, lies in Andhra Pradesh, a long day's drive from Bangalore. Many groups travel overnight or leave very early and stay one night. Plan accommodation in advance during festival periods, and tell the driver where the group intends to stay so the vehicle can be parked safely. Mantralaya is a popular family trip from Bangalore, and one customer review on our Google profile describes a family of 15 travelling there with us.

Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya and Udupi

The coastal Karnataka temple circuit, with Dharmasthala, Kukke Subramanya and Udupi, is a popular multi-day trip. The route passes through the Western Ghats, and the Shiradi and Charmadi ghat sections require an experienced driver who understands the weather and the traffic. Monsoon months bring heavy rain and occasional road disruption, so check the conditions before leaving and keep the schedule flexible. A 17 seater Urbania handles a family group on this circuit comfortably and keeps the luggage in one place. See pilgrimage tours and our tour package for Dharmasthala and Kukke.

Practical advice for pilgrimage groups

  • Carry original ID cards for every traveller, since temples and accommodation often ask for them.
  • Pack a small bag of footwear and wipes for temple stops where shoes are left outside.
  • Keep medicines, glucose and water within reach of elderly travellers at all times.
  • Tell us in advance about dietary needs and fasting days so stops can be planned around vegetarian meals.
  • Agree a rule for the driver's rest. A driver who has driven all night should not drive again at dawn. Plan an overnight stay so the vehicle and the driver rest before the return.

Part 5. Corporate Offsites and Delegations

Companies use the 17 seater Urbania for team offsites, client visits, leadership retreats and visiting delegations. The vehicle's calm cabin, the Smart TV and the charging at every seat suit a group that wants to work lightly, talk or rest during the drive.

Why one vehicle beats several cars for a team

A team in one vehicle arrives together, which means the day starts on time and the group shares the journey. A set of cars arrives in a staggered line, and people who travelled in separate cars miss the conversations that make an offsite worthwhile. For leadership groups, one vehicle also keeps travel costs transparent: one driver, one Bata, one set of tolls and one invoice.

Invoicing and approvals

We issue GST invoices for companies. Share your company name, GSTIN and billing address when you enquire so the invoice is correct the first time. If your finance team needs a quotation for approval before booking, ask for the written quotation in advance. It lists the per-km rate, the daily minimum, the Bata and the expected extras, which is the document finance teams usually need. See corporate travel for recurring arrangements.

Offsite destinations that suit a team of up to 17

Popular corporate destinations from Bangalore include Coorg and Chikmagalur for resort offsites, Mysore for a shorter day trip and Kabini for a wildlife-focused retreat. Resorts in these areas often have limited parking, so tell the resort about the vehicle's size in advance. A 17 seater Urbania is a high-roof van, so it needs the same care at low gates and car park entrances that any large van needs.

Part 6. Family Reunions and Friends' Holidays

Not every large trip is a ceremony or a company event. Families that live in different cities meet for reunions, and friend groups plan holidays that are more fun in one vehicle than in a convoy. The 17 seater Urbania is a good fit because everyone can talk, share snacks, watch something on the Smart TV and sing along without shouting between cars.

For multi-generational groups, agree some house rules before the trip. Decide on music volume, on whether the TV is for everyone or only for the children, and on a rough plan for stops. A group that has talked about these things in advance spends the trip enjoying it instead of negotiating it.

For groups with children, bring a small bag of entertainment and a plan for motion sickness. Seat children toward the front or middle, keep the cabin cool and keep snacks light. The retractable sunblinds help young passengers nap, and the individual USB chargers keep tablets running.

Part 7. Cost Engineering: What a 17 Seater Urbania Really Costs

The four billing terms

  1. Per-km rate: ₹38 per km for the 17 seater Urbania.
  2. Daily minimum: 300 km per day. If you drive less than 300 km on a day, 300 km is billed.
  3. Driver Bata: ₹700 per day, plus extra Bata for duty after 10:00 PM.
  4. Extras at actuals: tolls, parking, interstate permits and state taxes.

Worked examples

The billed distance is the larger of your round-trip distance and the daily minimum for the number of days. These examples use the live tariff and approximate distances.

TripDaysBilled kmDistance chargeBataTotal (before extras)Per person (17)
Bangalore to Mysore and back1300₹11,400₹700₹12,100₹712
Bangalore to Coorg and back2600₹22,800₹1,400₹24,200₹1,424
Bangalore to Ooty and back2600₹22,800₹1,400₹24,200₹1,424
Bangalore to Wayanad and back2600₹22,800₹1,400₹24,200₹1,424
Bangalore to Tirupati and back2600₹22,800₹1,400₹24,200₹1,424
Bangalore to Hampi and back3900₹34,200₹2,100₹36,300₹2,135

These figures show something useful. On a two-day trip to Coorg, Ooty, Wayanad or Tirupati, the round-trip distance is under 600 km, so the daily minimum sets the bill. That means two-day trips to different destinations cost the same, and the question becomes which destination you actually want, not which is cheapest. Check the Coorg, Ooty, Mysore and Wayanad fare guides for more detail.

The same trip in other vehicles

For a two-day, 600 km billed trip, the 17 seater Tempo Traveller costs 600 × ₹30 = ₹18,000 plus ₹1,400 Bata, or about ₹19,400. The 17 seater Urbania costs about ₹24,200. The difference is ₹4,800, which is about ₹282 per person across 17 people. The 21 seater mini bus at ₹34 per km would carry 600 km × ₹34 = ₹20,400 before Bata and extras, which is a good fit when your group is 18 to 21 people.

How to lower the cost

  • Fill the vehicle. The per-person cost falls as the group fills the seats. A 17 seater Urbania with 17 people is far cheaper per head than the same vehicle with 12.
  • Use the daily minimum well. If you are paying for 300 km a day anyway, add a stop or a nearby sight within the same day instead of paying for a second trip.
  • Avoid the night duty window. Extra Bata applies after 10:00 PM, so plan the return to finish before then.
  • Travel on weekdays where you can. Weekday availability is easier and weekend traffic out of Bangalore is heavier, which lengthens the trip.
  • Combine the outbound and return in one booking rather than splitting the trip into two separate one-way bookings.
  • Split the cost evenly and early. Collect each person's share before the trip. It removes the awkwardness of chasing payments afterward.

What is never included in the rate

The per-km rate covers the vehicle and the driver's time on the road. It does not include tolls, parking, interstate permits, state taxes, the driver's Bata beyond what is stated, or your own meals and accommodation. Ask the coordinator to budget a separate small amount for tolls and parking, because a long outstation trip can have several toll plazas each way.

Part 8. Comfort and Safety on Long Drives

Before you leave

  • Confirm the vehicle details with us the day before: the registration number, the driver's name and the driver's phone number.
  • Check that every traveller has their ID, their medicines and a charged phone.
  • Share your live itinerary with a family member who is not on the trip.
  • Eat a light meal before departure. Heavy breakfast before a ghat road is a classic cause of motion sickness.

During the drive

Wear seat belts where they are fitted and keep the aisle clear. Do not stand in the cabin while the vehicle is moving on ghat roads or at speed. Ask the driver to take a short break every two hours, because a rested driver is the best safety feature of any trip. If the driver says the group's request, such as a shortcut or a late-night dash, is unsafe, listen to the driver. Experienced chauffeurs know which roads flood, which stretches have poor lighting and which ghat sections are best crossed in daylight.

For elderly passengers

Put elderly travellers in the front or middle zone, near the door. Provide a small cushion for the lower back if they ask. Plan a comfort stop every two hours rather than waiting to be asked, since many older travellers hesitate to request a stop. Carry glucose, water, prescribed medicines and the doctor's number.

For children

Keep a small bag with wet wipes, a change of clothes, snacks and a motion-sickness plan. Seat young children where an adult can reach them easily, and never leave a child alone in a parked vehicle. Children travel better when they know the plan, so tell them how long the first leg will be.

Weather and road awareness

The Western Ghats, the Nilgiris and the coastal routes can change quickly. Monsoon rain brings low visibility, landslide risk in a few sections and slower speeds. We plan ghat crossings in daylight when we can. If conditions are poor, the driver may recommend delaying the start or changing the stopping point. These recommendations protect the group.

Part 9. When to Travel: A Seasonal Guide from Bangalore

The best season depends on where you are going. Bangalore itself has a mild climate, but the destinations around it vary a lot.

SeasonMonthsWhat to expect
WinterNovember to FebruaryThe most comfortable weather for most destinations. Coorg, Chikmagalur and Wayanad are cool and misty, Ooty is cold, and Hampi is pleasant for sightseeing. These are also the busiest months for weddings and holidays, so book early.
SummerMarch to MayHot in the plains, including Hampi and Tirupati, and a good time to head for hill stations such as Ooty and Coorg. Start early to avoid midday heat.
MonsoonJune to SeptemberLush green hills, waterfalls in full flow and fewer crowds, but heavy rain, slower roads and some road disruption on ghat sections. Coorg, Chikmagalur, Wayanad and the coastal temple circuit are at their most scenic and most weather-affected.
Post-monsoonOctober to NovemberClearing skies, green landscapes and festival season. A very good time for most trips.

Festival weekends and long holiday weekends are the busiest periods for outstation travel, and Bangalore roads become crowded on the Friday evening and Sunday evening of a long weekend. If you are booking for one of these dates, ask early.

Part 10. Destination Briefs for a Group of 17

Distances and drive times are approximate and depend on traffic, the route chosen and stops.

Coorg (Kodagu), about 255 km

Coorg is the classic Bangalore getaway: coffee estates, misty hills, waterfalls and the town of Madikeri. Popular stops include Abbey Falls, Raja's Seat, the Namdroling Monastery at Bylakuppe, the Dubare elephant camp and the Talacauvery source of the river Kaveri. The drive takes about five and a half to six hours. The final approach has winding hill roads where a calm, quiet vehicle like the Urbania makes a real difference. Resort and homestay roads in Coorg can be narrow and steep, so tell your accommodation the vehicle size and ask whether the final stretch is suitable. Route fares are on our Force Urbania Bangalore to Coorg page, and a ready itinerary is on the Coorg Getaway package.

Ooty and Coonoor, about 275 km

Ooty in the Nilgiris is a cool hill station known for its botanical garden, the lake, Doddabetta peak, tea estates and the toy-train heritage. The route from Bangalore passes through forest areas near Bandipur and Mudumalai. On these stretches there are night travel restrictions, with the forest check-posts closed overnight, so departures are timed to cross in daylight. Large vehicles take the gentler Gudalur route rather than the steeper alternative. Plan about six and a half to seven hours. See Urbania Bangalore to Ooty, the Ooty and Coonoor Hill Tour and our Ooty road trip guide.

Wayanad, about 290 km

Wayanad in Kerala is a green district of waterfalls, caves, lakes and spice plantations. Popular visits include the Edakkal Caves, Banasura Sagar Dam, Soochipara Falls and Pookode Lake. The route from Bangalore crosses Karnataka's Bandipur forest region and enters Kerala, so interstate permits and state taxes apply. Expect about six to six and a half hours. Wayanad is lovely in and just after the monsoon, but check the road and weather conditions in heavy rain. See Urbania Bangalore to Wayanad and the Wayanad Nature Escape.

Mysore, about 145 km

Mysore is the easiest trip for a large group and works as a one-day outing. The Mysore Palace, Chamundi Hills, the Brindavan Gardens at KRS and the city's markets are the usual stops. The expressway has made the drive about three to three and a half hours. Because the round trip is under 300 km, a one-day Mysore trip is billed at the 300 km daily minimum. Combine Mysore with Srirangapatna or Somanathapura to use the full day well. See Urbania Bangalore to Mysore.

Chikmagalur, about 245 km

Chikmagalur is coffee country, with hills such as Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, Baba Budangiri, Hebbe Falls and the Bhadra region. The drive takes about five and a half hours. The Mullayanagiri access road is narrow, so groups often park at the base and climb the final steps. See Urbania Bangalore to Chikmagalur, Chikmagalur Coffee Trails and the Mullayanagiri road trip guide.

Hampi, about 345 km

Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage site of ruined temples, boulders and the Tungabhadra river. The Virupaksha temple, the Vittala temple with its stone chariot, the Hemakuta Hill monuments and the Royal Enclosure are the highlights. The distance means a three-day trip is sensible for a relaxed schedule, with one day of travel each way and a full day at the site. Summer is very hot, so winter is the best season. See Urbania Bangalore to Hampi and the Hampi Heritage Trail.

Tirupati, about 255 km

Covered in the pilgrimage section above, Tirupati is a pre-dawn start for most groups, with careful planning for darshan and the interstate permit. See Urbania Bangalore to Tirupati.

Kabini and Nagarhole

Kabini, near the Nagarhole forest region, is known for wildlife safaris and river-side resorts. Safari timings are fixed by the forest department and booked through the resort, so confirm the safari slot and the arrival time before leaving. See Urbania Bangalore to Kabini.

Goa, Gokarna and Pondicherry

Long-distance leisure trips to Goa, Gokarna and Pondicherry need more days and more planning. Goa and Gokarna involve interstate or long inter-district driving, and Pondicherry involves Tamil Nadu permits. For these trips, plan at least three to four days, share your route preference and let us confirm distances, billed kilometres and permits in the quotation. See Goa, Gokarna and Pondicherry.

Part 11. Mistakes Large Groups Make, and How to Avoid Them

  1. Not counting bags. Count bags, not people. If bags exceed what fits, tell us early.
  2. Booking the wrong size. If your group might be 18 or more, book the 21 seater mini bus. Squeezing an extra person into a 17 seater is neither comfortable nor safe.
  3. Comparing only the per-km rate. Compare the daily minimum, the Bata, the extras and the total. A low per-km rate with a high minimum can cost more.
  4. Underestimating stop time. A group of 17 needs more time at every stop. Add an hour to your estimate.
  5. Leaving the return too late. Extra driver Bata applies after 10:00 PM, and tired drivers are a safety risk. Plan for an earlier return.
  6. Skipping the confirmation. Ask for a written quotation and confirm the vehicle and driver details the day before.
  7. No coordinator. One organised person prevents most arguments.
  8. Ignoring weather. In monsoon, allow slack in the schedule.
  9. Forgetting permits for interstate trips. Tell us your full route so permits are in the quotation.

Part 13. Frequently Asked Questions About Renting a 17 Seater Urbania

Seating and capacity

How many people can sit in a 17 seater Urbania? Up to 17 passengers plus the driver. We do not recommend carrying more, and we do not operate a larger Urbania.

Can children share a seat? Each passenger has an individual captain seat. Very young children are best seated with an adult beside them. Tell us the number of children so we plan the seating sensibly.

Do all the seats recline? The vehicle has recliner captain seats with calf and leg rests, so every passenger has their own recline.

Is there a seat belt for every passenger? Seat belt fitment varies by seat. Ask us about the specific vehicle when you enquire, and wear belts wherever they are provided.

Luggage

How much luggage fits? About 17 bags in the rear storage with a full group. Large hard-shell suitcases take more space than soft bags.

Can I carry a cabin-size bag inside? Yes, small day bags can travel in the cabin with you.

Pricing

What is the rate? ₹38 per km, with a 300 km daily minimum and ₹700 per day driver Bata.

What is included? The rate covers the vehicle and the driver's time on the road. Tolls, parking, permits and state taxes are billed at actuals.

Is there a fixed package price? Local city and airport trips are quoted per trip, in 8 hour/80 km and 12 hour/120 km packages. Outstation trips are billed on the per-km terms above.

Can I get a GST invoice? Yes, on request.

How do I pay? Payment terms are confirmed in the written quotation. Ask for them when you enquire.

Trips and routes

Can I take the Urbania outside Karnataka? Yes. It runs to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Goa. Interstate permits and state taxes are listed in the quotation.

What if the trip extends longer than planned? Extra kilometres are billed at the same per-km rate, and extra Bata applies for duty beyond 10:00 PM. Tell the coordinator and the driver early if you plan to extend.

Can the driver stay overnight at the destination? On multi-day trips the driver stays with the vehicle, and Bata is charged for each day of duty. Confirm any arrangement for the driver's stay in the quotation.

What time can we start? Standard duty begins at 6:00 AM. If you need an earlier start, such as a pre-dawn departure for Tirupati, tell us when you enquire and we will confirm it in the quotation.

Safety and service

Who drives the vehicle? An experienced, uniformed, commercial-badge chauffeur.

Is the vehicle air-conditioned? Yes. The cabin has individual AC louvers above every seat.

What if there is a problem on the road? Call our 24/7 support number at once, and the team will help you sort it out. Keep the driver's number and ours saved before you leave.

What is the cancellation policy? Terms are confirmed at booking, and if we cancel a confirmed booking, any advance is refunded in full. Read the cancellation policy.

Comparing options

Urbania or Tempo Traveller for 17 people? Choose the Tempo Traveller for the lowest cost and the Urbania for comfort on long trips and for VIP guests.

Urbania or a 21 seater mini bus? The Urbania suits up to 17. For 18 to 21, choose the mini bus.

Is there a 21 seater Urbania? No. The Force Urbania seats 17 at most.

What about a 12 seater? For up to 12 people, see the 12 seater Maharaja Urbania or the lower-cost 12 seater Tempo Traveller.

Checklist Before You Rent Any 17 Seater Urbania

Use this list with any operator, including us. It protects you from the most common surprises:

  1. Confirm the real seat count in writing. Urbanias run in several layouts. Ask for the exact number of passenger seats for your vehicle.
  2. Ask for the full price, not just the per-km rate. Get the daily minimum km, driver Bata, night Bata and what is billed at actuals.
  3. Check that rates match everywhere. The rate on a website, on the phone and in the written quotation should be identical.
  4. Ask for photos of the actual vehicle. Seat style and cabin features vary between vehicles.
  5. Verify the permit and driver. Ask for the tourist permit and a commercial-badge driver for outstation trips.
  6. Ask about luggage. Confirm how many bags fit with a full load of passengers.
  7. Read the cancellation terms before paying an advance. Ours are in the cancellation policy.
