The mechanics behind all of them are the same, though, and knowing them upfront is what actually makes a long drive stress-free rather than a string of small surprises. Before the trip: choosing the vehicle

The first real decision is the vehicle, and it comes down to group size and luggage rather than anything else. A sedan or Innova Crysta suits two to six people comfortably; beyond that, a Tempo Traveller keeps a larger group and their luggage on one vehicle instead of splitting across two cars. For a trip over 300–400 km, we'd always rather talk through the route with you first — hill roads to Coorg or Chikmagalur handle differently than the highway run to Goa or Hyderabad, and that affects which vehicle actually makes sense.

Pricing: what's in the per-km rate, and what isn't

Every vehicle on the fleet page lists a real per-km rate, not a placeholder. Outstation bookings run on a minimum of 300 km per day, and a driver Bata (allowance) applies on top of the per-km charge — both numbers are shown upfront on the vehicle's own page, not revealed after booking. Toll, parking, permit and state taxes are additional, since they vary by route and aren't something we can fix in advance. Duty hours run 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM; anything later attracts an extra driver Bata, which matters if you're planning a late return leg.

On the day: pickup and the road

The driver arrives at the pickup point you've confirmed — home, office, or an address anywhere in the areas we serve across Bangalore — with the vehicle already checked over. For outstation routes we drive regularly, like Bangalore to Mysore or Bangalore to Coorg, the driver already knows the stops worth making and the ghat sections worth taking slower, rather than treating the whole drive as one uninterrupted stretch.

Multi-day trips: what changes

For anything beyond a single day, the same per-km and driver Bata structure carries over per day of travel — it isn't a different pricing model, just the same terms applied across however many days the itinerary runs. The vehicle and driver stay with you for the length of the trip, so the return leg is booked as part of the same trip rather than as a separate arrangement.

Is it actually worth booking ahead of time?

For a same-day local trip, same-day booking is usually fine. For anything outstation — especially over a weekend or during a festival period — booking a few days ahead means the vehicle you actually want (not just whatever's free) is the one that shows up. It also gives us time to talk through the route if it's somewhere like a hill station or a multi-state drive, where the right vehicle and the right pace matter more than they do on a flat highway run.
